Check Your Tinted Windows Levels!

Unsure whether the light transmittance levels of your car windscreens and windows are within Malaysia’s regulatory limits? Using newly acquired equipment, the AA offers light transmittance level checks as part of our pre-trip car inspection package.

According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) passenger cars in Singapore are required to have at least 70% Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) for the front windscreen and front windows, and 25% for the rear windscreen and rear windows. With darker tinting, the LTA acknowledges that the darker tinted windows “enhance the vehicle's air-conditioning capability while providing a better shield against ultraviolet rays, and are in line with international practices in Japan and the European Union”. Thus, LTA advises owners and drivers of Singapore-registered vehicles to check and comply with the vehicle and road traffic laws of the foreign country that they wish to drive including Malaysia
